New Dynapac CM2500 Compactasphalt® modular system
The new Dynapac CM2500 Compactasphalt® modular system features enlarged hoppers and a unique drive system. It provides cost-effective solutions for placing 2 layers of asphalt in one single pass. Designed to be used with Dynapac’s DF145CS paver, the CM2500 module’s 2.55-meter (8.37 feet) width is ideal for applying the Compactasphalt® method on highways as well as motorways up to 7.5 meters (24 feet) wide.

The Compactasphalt® 2500 features an enlarged hopper for binder material with a total capacity of 28 tons. Equipped with its own power unit, the module has a 15-ton hopper for the top layer material. This hopper features two augers, which allow the top layer material to be carried under the electrically heated VB5100TV-E screed. A second screed, Dynapac’s VB805TV Plus-E high compaction screed compacts the binder layer. Both screeds are synchronized in the case of slope and cross-slope changes. Because the Compactasphalt® 2500 simultaneously places both the wearing and binder courses – hot on hot – in a single pass, the result is a better interlocking of the courses that increases the durability of the layers. Furthermore, the residual heat of the hot binder course significantly increases the time available for final compaction. The modular system also reduces the thickness of the top layer, saving on material costs. The thinner top layer also allows the cost-effective use of high-value mineral nutrients for polishing resistance, elucidation and edge strength. Unique to the CM2500 module is its drive system. Powered by a Deutz TCD2013 engine (116 kW), the drive system is located in front of the paver allowing the drive system to act as a counterweight for optimized balance. The Compactasphalt® 2500 means only one paver crew is needed to place two asphalt layers. The Dynapac DF145CS paver can be quickly configured for both conventional and Compactasphalt paving, and can be transported on a low-bed trailer with the CM2500 modular system in place. The Compactasphalt® 2500 system conforms to German road building regulations ZTV-Asphalt StB07, which prohibits driving on the hot binder course. |
